Explore the Latest Wildlife Adventure at San Antonio Zoo
The San Antonio Zoo has officially opened the Naylor Savanna, its largest habitat in over 110 years. This expansive new area doubles the space for giraffes and rhinos while tripling the room for zebras, ostriches, sitatunga, and more. The Naylor Savanna marks a new chapter for the zoo, offering guests unique and close-up encounters with some of the world’s most fascinating animals.
One of the standout features of this new habitat is the state-of-the-art giraffe barn. Designed with multiple individual rooms, a large family area, and a VIP encounter space, the barn offers guests incredible views of these majestic creatures. With floor-to-ceiling viewing windows, visitors can enjoy observing giraffes up close, even when they are inside.
Introducing Conserfari Tours and Spekboom Lodge
To celebrate the opening of the Naylor Savanna, San Antonio Zoo has launched the all-new Conserfari Tours. Thanks to North Park Toyota and South Texas Outfitters, these tours will transport guests through the savanna in safari-style Toyota Tundras. This exciting journey allows visitors to feed and interact with wildlife directly from the vehicle – an experience never before offered at the zoo. Conserfari Tours will be available for reservation later this month at San Antonio Zoo’s website.
Additionally, the zoo has revealed Spekboom Lodge, a luxurious overnight stay right in the heart of the savanna. The lodge offers breathtaking views and exclusive animal interactions, making it perfect for those wanting an up-close experience with wildlife. Spekboom Lodge will soon be open for reservations, but guests can join the waitlist now.
Supporting Conservation and Education
The Naylor Savanna is the latest addition to the zoo’s $120 million reinvestment in wildlife conservation. Thanks to a generous $3 million donation from Susan Naylor, the zoo now provides even more educational and conservation opportunities. This new habitat is a step forward in San Antonio Zoo’s mission to inspire visitors to protect wildlife and their natural habitats.
